Conestoga Valley SEEDS understands that for our Conestoga Valley community to be healthy and thriving we all need access to tools that provide opportunities for physical, mental and emotional health. As we look at our community, there are resource accessibility gaps for the underserved within our community. Access to mental health resources and physical health tools is a problem for many in our community.
We are grateful for our partnerships with Elizabethtown College & Connections Early Interventions and Supports (out of York), as we add Playgroups and other Occupational Therapy supports to our programing. We are grateful for our partnerships with CAP as we work together to bring programs and opportunities for care in mental and educational health to our community.
In the Fall of 2024 we will have an art therapist as a regular part of our childcare in our English Language Development classes. And, we are excited about the other opportunities our grant with Millersville University and their PaARTners program will bring in this needed area.
We have big dreams and ideas. We have dreams of additional support groups meeting together, dental and health clinics, therapists being more accessible, etc... We want to be humble learners as we engage with these issues. We are busy listening to others, asking questions, meeting with organizations who work in these areas and taking time as we work towards launching programs.
In April 2024, we launched our first "Growing SEEDS Parent and Child Play Group". We are excited about this partnership with Occupational Therapists from Elizabethtown College and Connections Early Intervention and Supports.
This initial group filled up quickly, and was made up of parents & children who attend our English Language Development classes, as well as others who have children enrolled in Conestoga Valley's Pre-K Counts program.
Our hope for this playgroup is to build community and for children to explore, play and learn together with other children and adults in an intentional, guided way.
We look forward to letting you know when the next one will begin!
We are in the process of preparing to launch support groups, in different areas of need.
We have a small Amazon Wishlist of items to go along with these groups.
We'd be grateful if you wanted to partner with us in that way.
